1. Why should I support another synagogue in the community?
The Chabad Center for Jewish Life is not just another synagogue. It is a Jewish family center where parents and children experience living Judaism. Although a part of our overall program includes a “shul” component, this outreach center is dedicated to creating and strengthening Jewish life for ALL JEWS in the Nashville area, regardless of affiliation. Chabad reaches to the soul of the Jew, a level where we are all one family and loved by G‑d regardless of our philosophical and ideological differences. A Jew is a Jew is a Jew. Period.
2. What is the mission of Chabad of Nashville?
To create an atmosphere where every Jew feels welcome and accepted for whom they are, and encouraged to explore their Jewishness from a positive, exciting, and spiritual perspective. The doors are open to everyone to experience enthusiastic Judaism that will have a tremendously positive influence on your family and your life.
3. Since the Campus for Jewish Life is a project of Chabad, why doesn’t the central Chabad-Lubavitch office fund it?
That is not how Chabad-Lubavitch works. The affiliation of the over 3,300 international Chabad-Lubavitch branches with each other and with a central office are inspired by the collective support of a shared vision, unconnected to anything financial. Our funding comes exclusively from local private donations. All funds raised for this project specifically benefit this local branch and no other Chabad-Lubavitch center or office.
4. Why did Chabad choose this location in Bellevue?
In order to greatly enhance our ability to serve the Jewish community, we have drawn plans for a new center. This center will be built on our magnificent nine–acre site on Bellevue Road. The property is centrally located, with affordable housing within walking distance, and is in close proximity to the GJCC and to the Jewish Day School. We believe that the warm and intimate atmosphere at Chabad is what has attracted many families, and we remain committed to creating this feeling in our new facility. With G‑d’s help we hope to fill this new structure with boundless spiritual and inspirational energy.
